Insert Job Parameter in Passive Stage Fields

Post by ray.wurlod »

In passive stages there are fields that are usually job parameters, suchy as DSN, user name, password, filename.

It would be nice to be able to select job parameters from a list, rather than to have to type them in accurately.

This exists in parallel job stages - a tool takes you to a menu that includes insert job parameter, browse for file, etc. as appropriate for the field. So it should be easy to migrate the functionality into stage types in server (and mainframe) jobs.

While were at this, doing it only replacing the selected portion would be nice.
We often need to have parameters as partial values of theese properties, mostly in file names or full paths.

Ray,
having in mind there is a grid view for most plugins that support parameters, do you have more specific stages except ODBC and Sequential file stage in mind?

All! It's surely an easy change to each GUI. Don't want to have to switch to grid style just to insert parameters.

Parameters for partial references are already catered for in the parallel job stages; you can, for example, insert a parameter for the directory then type in a slash and the file name.
