Gartner ETL Magic Quadrant for 1H05

Post by vmcburney »

This is the first ETL magic quadrant since IBM purchased Ascential. Ascential has now clearly moved ahead of Informatica in terms of "Completeness of Vision" while they remain level pegging in "Ability to Deliver". Oracle makes the big move into the Leaders quadrant and Business Objects are now on the cusp of the Leaders quadrant. Microsoft result does not cover the SQL Server 2005 Integration Services which are currently in beta testing.

As usual a vendor has been kind enough to hold a reprint of the report for free, this time it is via the Oracle web site:

Ascential Software (IBM) has continued its trend of growth, increased market visibility and greater brand awareness (see "Vendor Rating Update: Ascential Software Enjoys Positive Momentum"). Strong financial results in 2004, including double-digit growth in license revenue, demonstrate further improvements in execution. To deliver against its broad data integration vision, Ascential's product plans through 2006 include major releases aimed at achieving consistency of infrastructure, tighter integration across all the components of its suite and simplification of integration projects. The acquisition by IBM, completed in 2Q05, detracts slightly from Ascential's near-term ability to execute, raising questions for Ascential prospects and customers regarding product plans and overlaps with existing IBM products.
