I most usually use a database sequence to generate a Batch ID. This could, for example, be invoked through a Surrogate Key Generator stage or even through a separate job.

I'm willing to wager a beer. That he means the user id that runs the job.

To be paid when/if we ever meet up at the Vegas conference again.

"A batch ID from what I have seen is an integer to track the records being inserted/updated during Job run. Mostly for audit purposes".....This is what I really want :)

Awais, also look up the term Water Mark as I believe it serves the same purpose here.

If that's really all you want, then why say this?
