IA virtual table

1)In IA we can define where clause for a table in Analysis setting for a particular project.We can also create a separate virtual table with where clause for table.what is the difference between these two?Pros and cons between these two things

2)Is it possible to perform column analysis after joining two tables?If so how?

I tried creating virtual table and i do not find any difference between these two and also I do not find any option to join two tables before doing column analysis

Can you be more specific about how to specify a WHERE clause when running an analysis? I cannot find it in version 8.5.0.3 and I cannot find it in version 11.3.1.2.
