fixed length file format/mapping

Post by Champa »

Hi,

I have a datastage job which produces fixed length file from sql server. I have to now provide mapping - starting position, length & ending position for each column in that file. If I follow the lenths in transformer, see lengths then it is wrong. Then I opened the file in pfe (edititor where u can see column position). But there are blanks & 155 columns.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

In Datastage Parallel edition just the transformer length and mentioning the file is fixed width is not sufficient to produce the correct postion based file. In the columns, go to each row and click on edit row, mention the start position of each column and then your position based file will be created correctly, also another thing I observed. mention the fields as varchar and not char and they work , for me char did not work.
