For our friends down under, he was a popular guy here in the states as well. As my wife said this morning, he went out doing exactly the thing he loved doing.

It was a very sad day yesterday for Australia to lose this wonderful person. He did great things for tourism and the environment in Australia.

RIP Steve Irwin.

One of the most loved Australians, even the people who thought he was over the top and annoying are coming around with all the stories about how genuine he was and how much he did for conservation and animal welfare.

Online sites of Australia's main newspapers Sydney Morning Herald and The Age have "Todays Top 10 Articles" showing the most visited articles, all day all top 10 stories have been about Steve Irwin.
