What is Quality Stage?

Post by girishoak »

hi,

Want to know some basics
What is Quality Stage?
What is the use of Quality Stage?
Doest it come along with Datastage or need to buy seperately?
How it is related to Datastage?

Thanks in advance

Start at the Ascential web site:
http://www.ascential.com/products/qualitystage.html
Also have a look in the literature library:
http://www.ascential.com/litlib/
There are some interesting documents here:
* DataStage Product Family Architectural Overview
* Get The ROI You Expect From Your Enterprise Applications Investment
Comprehensive Data Integration and Data Quality Management

You can buy an enterprise license for Ascential products that bundles a few of them together or you can buy licenses seperately for DataStage, QualityStage, AuditStage etc. I'm guessing you have DataStage licenses but no QualityStage licenses and you will need to buy some.

Among a series of acquisitions of technology over the last couple of years, Ascential acquired the company called Vality, whose flagship product was a data cleansing tool called INTEGRITY.

All of the acquired technology has been renamed something ending in "Stage", so that INTEGRITY has become Quality Stage, MetaRecon (from MetaGenix) has become Profile Stage, Quality Manager (from PRISM/UniData) has become Audit Stage, and Orchestrate (from Torrent) became Parallel Extender.

It's not just renaming, however. Quality Stage also incorporates a plug-in stage that you can use from a DataStage job to invoke the data cleansing capability directly from the job, without having to touch data down to disk, plus metadata interchange/recognition capability. Not to mention execution in the Parallel Extender environment.

Quality Stage is part of Ascential's Enterprise Data Integration suite. It is not a part of DataStage (which is another component of the suite), so you need to buy it in addition to DataStage.
