DataStage® Release: 11x
Job Type: Parallel
OS: Unix
I am on DataStage on RHEL 7.5 (DataDirect drivers 7.1.6)

We have to use 1 set of drivers for connecting with DataStage and once set of drivers for using the sqlcmd through scripts. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it? I am not sure what the problem is as I would expect the updated driver to work within DataStage as its referenced within appropriate paths.

We upgraded our MS SQL Server from 2008 R2 to 2017. DataStage connects to SQL Server through ODBC connection and Unix script invoking sqlcmd.

Original Driver:

Installed new Microsoft ODBC Driver:

Updated PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH based on drivers directory above; restarted DataStage

The DataStage jobs will not work with the updated driver and only work when the original driver is referenced. DataStage will work with the original VMsqls00.so driver.

DataStage Job Error with New Driver:
ODBC function "SQLConnect" reported: SQLSTATE = IM003: Native Error Code = 0: Msg = [DataDirect][ODBC lib] Specified driver could not be loaded (CC_OdbcConnection::connect, file CC_OdbcConnection.cpp, line 585) [pxbridge.C:8803]

DataStage Unix ODBC Test Error (DS_CONNECT):
SQLConnect error: Status = -1 SQLState = 08001 Natcode = -1

[ODBC] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server]SSL Provider: [error:80001044:lib(128):func(1):internal error:unexpected error]

Network connection to Data Source ‘XYZ’ failed

The sqlcmd from a unix script only works when the libmsodbcsql-17.2.so.0.1 is referenced. When the VMsqls00.so is referenced the error is: The DSN specified an unsupported driver.

Well... if you haven't done so, I would hope you've also opened a support case with your official support provider. That's going to be your best way to find out what the "official" answer to your issue is. Perhaps in the meantime, someone like Ray or Ernie will come along and be able to help. Have you checked to see if updated drivers are available from IBM?

Your issue is the "branded" part of the "branded_odbc" path you posted. The drivers have been modified to only work with DataStage and vice-versa. And it also appears that the branding also means they don't work outside of DataStage. Confused

Now I've got that feeling once again, I can't explain; you would not understand
this is now who I am. I have become comfortably numb.
