Can SQL Server Express be used for XMETA repository?

Post by RiyaNY »

Hi,

We are installing latest version of Information Server 11.7. We will be using a single node architecture. We would like to know if it is possible and practical to use MS SQL Server Express for the XMETA repository?

Kind regards,
Riya Y

As a first step, review the detailed system requirements. Try this link, or if it doesn't work, then search.

https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/co ... 5CF6073F72

You should find the list of supported databases under the prerequisites tab.

DB2 Enterprise Server Edition
Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition
Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition
Oracle Database 12c Release 1
Oracle Database 12c Release 2
Oracle Real Application Clusters

The express edition is not listed, which means it is not supported. I am not sure if it is possible or not, but suppose somehow that it worked, then you would be limited in the size and you would not be supported.

Indeed, as a general rule, express and other free-download databases are not supported for the metadata repository.

Thank you, we will stick to Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition then.
