DataStage® Release: 11x
Job Type: Server
OS: Windows
I am a new user of Information Governance Catalog, Version 11.3.0. It appears that both the catalog and development catalog should have query building capabilities, but I am not seeing it for the development catalog. Does anybody know if there is a simple setting change to get it to show, if this is a bug and a fix will be put in, or if it really isn't available for the development catalog and the documentation is simply wrong. It isn't a role setting, as I am set up as a glossary admin.

The below is from the online documentation:
1.If workflow is enabled, click either Glossary Development or Catalog, depending on the catalog that you want to search. Otherwise, click Catalog.
2.Click Queries.

Welcome aboard.

You need to get version 11.3.1 or the one after that.

I'm not sure why it was omitted from 11.3.0 but it was. Feedback to IBM indicated that access to the Development Catalog (not least export and import) was required.

To answer your next question, I do not believe that this will be retro-fitted to 11.3.0.

Well, since I originally discovered this, I guess the version has been upgraded. Is there anything that might need to be done still? Thanks for any insight!

We are at 11.3.1 (Fix Pack 1) or 11.3.1.1. It is the latest version and fix pack available for Information Server. Following is the list of individual component with associated version (taken from the Version.xml file of ETL Server):

Then I guess it's "the one after that", which doesn't officially have a version number yet. I have seen this very issue discussed in Business Partner briefings; I'm not making it up!

Fix packs are released quarterly or less often. Various products in the suite also have rollup patches release monthly, or whenever they feel like it...

You can download these from the IBM Support Fix Central site (search for it).

For example, IGC 11.3.1.1 currently has rollup patch "RU13" available, which would bring you to the most recent version.

The Version.xml file will also show rollup patch install history, if any, up towards the top of the file.

That said, as an Admin, I do not find any "Queries" menu on IGC 11.3.1.1 RU13 while in the Development Glossary! Only in the Catalog.

The documentation is either incorrect or just ahead of its time...

I have been told that the documentation was wrong and that it will be changed. In regards to the querying, engineering has stated it is as designed. I went ahead and submitted an enhancement request. To me, querying against the development glossary makes sense to help with stewardship efforts. I am not a fan of numerous notification emails. My idea was to do periodic querying and notify users with specific metadata needs based on their role.

The request can be found at:
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=71912

Please vote for it if you think the functionality would be a nice addition.

The 11.3 Knowledge Center documentation on the web is still incorrect and misleading. Seems like IBM should have corrected that by now.

We are on version 11.3.1.2 with IGC RU23. There is still no query capability on the Dev Glossary. Crying or Very sad I tried voting using the RFE link above but it appears to be broken.

We recently had a glossary author resign and needed to identify everything that was under development, as none of it had been published. It turns out that without any query capability, very limited search options, and limited filtering options, this was not an easy task. We had to export all the content and manually search through the export file.
