DataStage® Release: 11x
Job Type: Parallel
OS: Unix
Let's say our IBM IIS hostname is https://********.****.***.com:9445/***

Is it possible to change this host name to some meaningful name?

It's not a big deal if the usage is only limited to datastage, but since we are using IGC and other User interface products, am wondering if possible to change the default host name to something meaningful.

I did some research, and I could see options only to change port but not for host name though.

Please advise.

Well, you could spoof your DNS entry and point to the same IP address that your regular ETL box has.

You'd have to ask your internal company Network guys. They will ask for a justification since they will have to do the work.

"Because it doesn't look meaningful" will be a hard sell.

I don't think you'll be very successful; the hostname at installation time is stored in a bazillion places in the metadata repository. Spoofing the hostname may work, but nothing is guaranteed. ...

From the sounds of it, he just wants a pretty hostname so that his customers who use IGC see something other than his cryptic ETL box hostname in the URL.
