Hi All,
We are trying to design a notification system for the AVI and CASS Reference files updates. Can someone clarify the below please.
1) AVI even when the next Quarter files were available, we were able to use the previous quarter files. It did not stop the process.Wherease in CASS USPS when 105 days passed,CASS stage processing stopped.
So AVI the user has got the option to decide on the update of quarter files
But CASS is it mandatory to update the files?
2) Are there any configuration files which details for which quarter the files are for and when it is to be updated/expired?
thanks
AVI/CASS Quarterly files
1) The 105 day expiration rule on USAC or CASS reference files is mandated by USPS for certification so that the most current and accurate address data is ensured to validate mailings sent through the post office.
USPS always publishes the next month's data on the 15th of each month. IBM then has to repackage it for QualityStage, preprocess everything, and encrypt it before they post the downloads on Passport Advantage.
I have noticed IBM generally posts these USAC/CASS updates somewhere in the day 20's of each month, but sometimes around holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas, it may get delayed by a week or even skipped altogether.
The AVI data does not appear to expire. You can continue using it but if you don't apply the reference file updates then over time they will get stale and you of course won't get the benefit of new or improved records.
2) I'm not sure; haven't checked.
For both of these, we simply set ourselves monthly and quarterly calendar reminders using mail & calendar tools.

Thanks for the details.
We installed the latest USPS files and when trying to access from CASS Stage it throws the below error "CASS_195,0: Default Huffman handle was not set from Street Names
error opening files for reader"
Not sure what this error is all about.
We didn't overwrite the existing the files folder, we have placed it in a new folder path and it was just tar xvf command executed.
The folders have got the needed permission.
In the other server, it is working fine. But not sure why it is failing ?
Will there be any config files present in the older files and we have to set up the new ones in the same folder?
Thanks
