On a Grid, where can ulimit be changed?

That is very helpful.

I think what this is telling me is that best practice will be to set the ulimit values in the dsenv; which by the way is how it has been done in every other shop I have been in.

I've just learned from a rep at IBM Support that on a grid ulimit values on the head node come from root user and on the compute nodes come from the user that submitted the job.

I don't understand yet why that is, but that does seem to be what we are experiencing.

The solution seems to be to always set preferred ulimit values in the dsenv.
