I think DataStage was initially developed by Ardent Technologies until version 4.x, then Ascential took over from version 5.x to 7.x, then now IBM acquired the whole product suite from Ascential back in 2005.

That's as far as I know. May be, others would add more or correct me if I goofed up. :wink:

I think 7.5.2 was released earlier than 7.5x2.

You cannot develop parallel jobs with 7.5.2 version in windows. But with 7.5x2 you can.

yes you are right,

In our project we had 7.5x2 but we did not develop any parallel jobs so we got back to 7.5.2 version now in only Dev Box .

IBM customer service told that we should not have the Abnormal Termination & Exception raised in GCI subroutine problems with 7.5.2 ( current release march 2006)

Thanks

Version 1.0 was released in November 1997 by VMARK Software (I was there). VMARK and UniData merged to become Ardent Software, which was acquired by Informix Software in 1999. Informix sold all its database products to IBM in 2000 and reinvented itself as Ascential Software which, as you are aware, was acquired by IBM in 2005.

The following lines are taken from DSR_ESRPROPS.H in the DSINCLUDE subdirectory, and show the version numbers and code names used over the years. It does not, however, include the release date for each version.
* The numbers that have been used correspond to these releases:
* 0 = SCT1 ; 1 = SCT2; 2 = FCS (1.0)
* 3 = 1.1
* 4 = 2.0
* 5 = 3.0 (early builds)
* 6 = 3.0 (FCS)
* 7 = 3.1
* 8 = 3.5
* 9 = 3.6 development
* 10= 3.6 (QA and FCS)
* 11= 3.7 (Jakarta)
* 12= 4.0.1 (4.0 NLS)
* 13= 4.1
* 14= 4.0.3
* 15= 4.1.2
* 20= 5.0 (Kobe)
* 22= 5.2.1
* 25= 6.0 (Viper)
* 30= 6.1 (Rattler)
* 35= 7.0 (Twister Alpha)
* 36= 7.0 (Twister)
* 50= 7.5 (Trinity)

* Note that for major releases, we now increment the version number by
* five, rather than one, to allow some leeway in case a new version
* appears that needs to be slipped in before the major release.
There was a short-lived version 2.1, and 2.2 was the most stable of the 2.x releases. Version 2.5 was the first version with NLS, and actually came out after version 3.0. This is why there are two internal version numbers for version 3.6 - this was the first version to have the same code base for NLS and non-NLS DataStage.

There are a couple of other omissions from the list, such as 4.0, 4.2 and 5.2, but no other internal version numbers were used for these.

All 7.5.x versions have internal version number 50.
