Hi,
If I remember right it is suported. You better consult the release notes.
Any way, if the release notes says 5.3 is supported, don't try to install 5.3.1 or any other version that is not mantioned specificly. Got a lot of trable few month ago because of this, it just doesn't work right.

DataStage 7 does not support AIX 5.3
No DataStage 7.0.1, 7.1 and 7.5A all only support AIX 5.2
