PX method

Post by nsalles »

I am very surprised ! I come from Datastage Server ...

Today was my first day in the PX world ! And I was surprised. In fact I heard " PX is not Server it's not the same way to think ..."
I spend the day with somebody who practise PX since 6 month but I just saw :
- Don't use transformer, prefer specific stage.
- Parallel parameter, partition parameter.

... Not so different that Server !!

But nothing about :
- Link collector or link partitioner
- Synchronize point.

Could you tell me if I really don't understand what PX is or if I had a to high opinion of PX !

Hi Salles,

Welcome to the world of PX. The concept of partioning and collecting is built into each stage and depends upon the number of nodes configured in your configuration file. A node is a logical divison of your CPU. You can learn more about configuration file in the Datastage Manager's Guide.

Yes, modify stage is the preffered stage wherever applicable and not the transformer stage as per Ascential Datastage best practices.

Pls look into this link.It will give you more information on how to use the forum.
