Possible Metadata linkage issue

Post by pavi »

Hello,

We have imported jobs into prod environment from two lower environments(Dev,Dev1).We are planning to import the project from prod to Dev.If we do so does it affect the metadata linkage? Our concern is if it is affected we cannot identify the jobs which get affected due to metadata changes which are going to come in future.

Please suggest.

Thank You!

That's both an easy and a complex question ---- for pure lineage purposes of DataStage jobs, migrating will have zero effect ------- however, on the new image you will still need to make all the settings, establish database alias', migrate all database tables as desired, perform stitching, and set up manual linkages as needed.

If you have followed best practices for develpment of your Jobs, then most of your lineage will be automatic. There is always some amounts of lineage that need to be managed manually. Those things you will have to still do.

It is worth noting that your lineage work ought to be on production. Use Dev to learn about how the settings all work and how OMD is collected and to get a better understanding of the best practices.
