installed information server datastage 11.5 on redhat linux
started all services : ok
configured users : ok
datastage admin console : all projects have (broken)
tried to create new project - window indicates : creating..copy.... : ok
and status also (broken)
I did not change the hostname since install (as I could read in another entry)
the trace log file does not indicate any errors

any idea why this occurs and how to correct ?

If you do a "ls /data/ISServer/Projects/dsproj1" from a console session, how many files are there in the Directory? (there should be a number of files including one called "VOC").

What is the exact error message if you try to open the Designer to that Server and "proj1"?

there are 89 files/dir in this directory and
/data/ISServer/Projects/dsproj1/D_VOC

I tried to logon and can ..no error
looking in admin : all the broken have gone away : all are normal
I do not know what happened.. all seems ok

looking in xmeta db i could find these projects

I asked about the Directory since I've seen Problems when the user had insufficient Access rights to create files and that caused a corrupt Project (with no files) to be created. This isn't the case for your Installation, since it worked once.

Could you Login to the Project using the designer or developer and post the error message?

Make sure your ports between the Client and the Engine are open.

There is a wide range of ports.

I have de-activated the firewall completely

and tried again - and again can use project
did not left it yet - creating a job

as long as I stay in designer I can create save jobs..
when leaving and connecting again I get
error message:failed to find an entry for the ds designer and project in the repository
the project Project1 can not be found in the repository..

Look at your project directory and ensure that you have group RW bits set on all of those files.

is there a mount that went to 100%?

Did your hostname change? (HA failover setup?)

I note that you created dsproj1 but, the next day, tried to delete Project1 (a different project name).

It's probably a bug that adding Project1 to XMETA and creation of Project1 are reported to stdout/stderr.

I'd suggest running syncproject on the eight projects that do exist.

yes the authority is the problem
install was done with root
the project directoy is owned by root and only dsproj1 exists
some other files in other directories are also only allowed to be used by root
most of them are dsadm as it should
did uninstall of engine and trying new install of engine and see if problem corrected
will feedback after new install
