Oracle connector Import Issue

When exporting a job containing an oracle connector stage the export file is greater than 50MB (design and executable). The import of the job subsequently fails.
If the connector stage is deleted and re-instated and the job exported again, the size of the export file reduces to less than 1 MB and the subsequent import succeeds.
Any ideas as to why the job is initially creating such a large export file and how this is related to the connector stage.
My first thoughts are some type of job corruption. Has anyone seen similar scenarios?
