Exceptions Console

Hi
we are planning to use Data Quality Exception Console to monitor for Exceptions management.
we are new to this, so tried creating simple job which will write records to Exceptions Stage, then saw the Exceptions Console but couldn't see any exceptions.
I think i need to create events if i remember correctly(I did something several months before). Can someone advise what is the process.
