Anyone running 11.5 DS & IGC without issues?

Post by ggarze »

Looking to upgrade from 9.1 to 11.5 DataStage, I was wondering if anyone is running just fine, especially in production, 11.5. If so are you using IGC as well?

Long story short, working for 8 weeks now on a PMR as we implemented a 3 server tier topology (Linux VM servers, Oracle repository) which isn't going very far. Experience IGC performance issues, core dumps on services tier when running large .dsx imports or IGC, and services like jobmon and appwatcher needing manual starting here and there.

At the point where we are debating cutting the cord on 11.5 and just installing 11.3.1 but wanted to see if a good amount of users are having success with 11.5 and maybe it's just our environment.

Thanks,

Thanks, yes we were informed of this however the time we've spent with the back and forth with support without any clear resolutions, we've decided to step back and go with the most recent version of 11.3.x.x.

What steps did you take to restore the Unix server to"before 11.5 installation" state?

8) VMs sure make 'cleanup' easy. My notes for non-nuke approach cleaning from an upgrade project:
  • Bring down IIS.
Rebuild systems users or cleanup their home directories (e.g. XMETA, XMETASR etc)
    Delete all files under /opt/IBM.
    Delete /var/ibm/InstallationManager
Restore /etc/services and /etc/hosts from a "before" backup.
    Reboot the box.
I am wondering, if these are still applicable for IIS 11.5.

Thanks for your feedback. We are about to go with 11.5 in a month from NOW DEV first and then after couple of months MODEL and then PROD.

Any real areas of concern especially in the IGC Area to b e aware of.

This isn't going to help much but we started down the path of 11.3 to 11.5 and there were several issues that made stop and back out of that. It's looking now it'll be 6 months or so down the road before we'll look at this again. Hopefully by then IBM will have enough patches and rollups released to make it a more stable environment.
