I experienced a crash trying to bring up the Designer client in a new install on a windows XP SP3 PC. The error message: 'DataStage Designer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovenience".
I loaded the DSDesign.exe in dependency walker and profiled the execution. The initial interface came up and asked for the logon details. I entered the credentials and it continues to open a window pop up with the above error message displayed and after acknowledging the message the client closes. The dependency walker show the module c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.30319\CVTRES.EXE being executed.
To resolve the issue I download the dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe program and removed and reinstalled the .Net Framework 4 extension and Client profile, then rebooted the PC and it worked.
Thanks
