migrating from windows to linux

Post by santosh.sewlal »

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what one needs to consider
when migrating from windows to linux?
Has anyone come across any issues with compatibility and other experiences?

Thanks,
Santosh

Path for files, and Delimiters should be taken care. Rest of the stuff are pretty much compatible.

As kumar said there should be any problem as such.

If the input data file are also moved from windows to linux then, be aware that the new like character will be replaced by some special character. Make sure to delete the special symbols before further processing.

For Unix/Linux the new line character will be LF (\n)
For windows its CR+LF (\r\n)

And anything else that's operating system specific, for example any calls to ExecDOS will need to be replaced with calls to ExecSH, BAT files will need to be re-written as shell scripts, the first (Shell) argument to DSExecute calls will need to be changed, and so on.
