Sharing DQ Rules across servers

Post by vmcburney »

If you have put Information Analyzer and DataStage on separate servers can you still share data quality rules between them? For example if we have:
Server 1 - DataStage only - used for very high volume load jobs.
Server 2 - Information Analyzer only (with an underlying DataStage engine only used for Information Analyzer jobs) - used for high volume profiling and creating DQ rules.

Can we take DQ rules from Server 2 and run them in DataStage DQ Rule stages on Server 1? We do not want to put IA profiling and DataStage on the same server due to the conflict for CPU and RAM.

Theoretically yes. I'll have to give some thought to the next, "how", question!

Hi,

You need to have Information Analyzer installed to use the Data Rules stage. There are Information Analyzer components required for the execution that are only installed when Information Analyzer is installed.

So, to use the Data Rules stage, you will need to have one of the following:
- DataStage and Information Analyzer installed on the same server
- QualityStage and Information Analyzer installed on the same server
