Load Database Metadata

Post by Bryceson »

Hi Folks,

We have installed ProfileStage 7.5.1A and We are fairly new to ProfileStage.

Ascential ProfileStage Client
Ascential ProfileStage Analysis Server
Ascential ProfileStage Database (PSDB) Repository (DB2)
Ascential ProfileStage Message Switch
Data Sources - SouthBreeze
Ascential ODBC Drivers

On our Desktop running Windows 2000 Professional.

And followed the steps on the ProfileStage Tutorial for step 3
-Load Database Metadata

I receive this error and other messages below. Does any one knows what is not doing right?

-I understand SouthBreeze Data does not have primary key, so the warning is expected. But it does not to continue to load the tables into the PSDB Repository.

Thanks . . . Bryceson

Try making a copy of SouthBreeze and adding primary keys. Then try an import from that.

I would guess that ProfileStage should be able to import table definitions that lack primary keys, though lacking them will severely hinder some of the later analyses, especially table and cross-table analyses, so maybe "they" just decided to forbid them from being imported.

Do you get anything at all into the PSDB? The message indicates that the load was completed, so the interruption may have been during a status update or something else related to control.

I figured out that I have to create the DNS for PSDB Repository using Ascential Drivers and was able to load database metadata fine. Thanks Ray for your input!!

It was not always thus. I wonder why they restrict you to those drivers?
