Using ProfileStage for testing purposes

Post by htang619 »

Does anyone have the experience in terms of using ProfileStage for testing purpose? We are evaluating the possibility of using ProfileStage to automate some testing processes by comparing the source and target data profile and automatically determine if we got things right. Any thoughts/comments/experineces/or anything would be highly appreciated.

That's not really what ProfileStage does. Profile stage tells you what's out there, in terms of single columns, within-table dependencies and between-table dependences, and can suggest a 3NF schema on those bases. It doesn't really have any comparison facilities.

QualityStage is a better tool for performing comparisons. However, you will find that the scope of rule sets may be somewhat limited for your actual requirements. Nonetheless, you can make use of its matching capabilities even without rule sets.
