Result sets from AS400 Stored Procedure - Binary Format

Group..I set up a job to call an AS400 Stored procedure from Test System (V5R2). The job is working fine with sending the correct result set. However when I called the procedure from production AS400 system (V5R1), the result sets are in binary format. We are running on Datastage V7.
I used APPCODEPAGE=1252 & SERVERCHARSET=37 in the odbc.ini file for both Test and Production systems. However the result sets are in ASCII in test system and Binary in other system. The only difference is the AS400 o/s version. Am I missing something..Is there any issue with branded odbc for AS400/V5R1 ..Thanks..
