Wrong column names in seq.file

Post by admin »

Hi,

I've got the following problem:

I create a sequential file with certain column names, first line is
columnnames is used. I've tried lot of things to change the column names in
the output file but it doesn't have any influence on the names mentioned in
the first line of the created output file. Could it be a reference to a
table-definition or something like that?

Any idea?

Thanks!

Wim van Dommelen.

Wrong column names in seq.file

Post by admin »

The name of the columns in the first row should be the name of the fields on
the input link of the sequential file stage. Changing the field names
should change the names written to the sequential file.

Is that what you are asking or have I misunderstood the question.

Wrong column names in seq.file

Post by admin »

David,

This is the way it should work, the changes I make do not result in other
names in the first line of the output file...
It's realy strange.

Wim.

Resend: Wrong column names in seq.file

Post by admin »

I had a typo in my first reply.... Here you go again!
Good luck!

Try this:

* Run your file through another transformer.
* The column names on the INPUT tab of the stage that is input to the transformer should have the old columns name listed. The column names that are in the OUTPUT TAB of the stage that is input to the transformer should have the new column names that you want to change to.
* Then, in the sequential stage AFTER the transformer, create a new file as "first line is column names", and in that stage, also put the new column names in the "INPUT" tab there.

I tested this, and it worked for me. :)
