Does anyone have experience with the feature Release Job?

Could anyone with some experience give me a short explanation of how this work. What are the pros and cons?

Thanks for your responses in advance,

Release Job

Open the manager and highlight the job or batch you would like to release. (make sure that the job or batch has been compiled).

Click on "Tools", "Release job". A box will come up which is entitled "Jobname - Job Release".

At the bottom of that box, click on the "Release Job" button. You will get the message:
Releasing Job XXXXXXXX...
Job XXXXXXXX released successfully to Job XXXXXXXX%rel20.0.0 when the job has finished releasing.

Click on the "Close" button.

Anyone who accesses this "%rel20.0.0" version of the job or batch will have only the ability to run the job - they will not have access to modify it in any way.

Release Job

This only applies to server jobs, afaik. I believe that releasing PX jobs is not supported. The preferred method of moving PX jobs into production is via Version Control (if you must have them read-only) or export-import.
