Any tool for DS work as "diff" command for unix?

Post by tomato »

Hi,

Just wanted to know is there any way to compare 2 jobs from same server / different server, which just work like the "diff" command in unix?

Thanks and regards

Hi tomato (... now THERE's a line you don't type everyday)

The simplest solution would be to use a tool to compare the DSX files of each job - exported using DataStage Manager.

There are plenty of decent shareware tools ('ExamDiff' being one) that will perform the job.

There is exactly that tool coming in the next ("Hawk") release of DataStage. It generates hyperlinks to the differing parts of the job design, routine code or whatever, so that you can analyze further.

But there's nothing in the current version (7.5.1) or earlier. All you can do at the moment is compare export files.

If you interested in comparing the individual component residing in the job then check out the code available in the following link.
