UniData is a database product originally created by a company called UniData.
UniVerse is a different database product originally created by a company called VMARK Software.
Both are now owned and supported by IBM Corporation.

UniData stage accesses the UniData database.
UniVerse stage accesses the UniVerse database.
They are completely different, though similarities exist.

Because DataStage was originally a UniVerse application, the UniVerse stage can also access DataStage Engine hashed files and tables.
