Hi,

We are currently planning to upgrade from DataStage v8.7 to v11.3.

I would appreciate your advice on the following:

1. Will ETL jobs in v8.7 with DB2 UDB Load stage, work without changes in v11.3?

2. will the DB2 UDB Load stage be able to connect to external DB2 database v11.1 ? If otherwise any other alternatives ?

We'll see what kind of answers you get but to me these sound like questions you should asking your sales person.

I'm also curious (based on your forum choice and job type noted) if you are really asking about a Server jobs only environment...

We checked with IBM support.

1. The ETL jobs will work ok without any changes in DataStage v11.3

2. DataStage v11.3 supports only up to DB2 database version 10.5

Reg 11.1 support, you can always use v10 client to connect to 11.1 server if you must. Things we have been doing since long.

The quality of the metadata in your jobs will determine if you need to fix them after the migration.

Sloppy jobs may have been created and worked in 8.7, but the metadata rules are enhanced in 11.3. Might fail at compile time or at execution time. Or... run just fine.
