Another System Engineer we have that handle DS told me that NLS is not available for DS 8.0. We have another team that is now using DS 9.0+ so we looking at converting our application also. Our SEs are discussing it right now.

You could always upgrade. After all, version 8.0 is no longer supported by IBM.
