That's the typical unmeaningful error message to expect from the OLE/DB stage. Sometimes there are multiple providers that can be used (if connecting to SQL server there is a SQL server provider, an ODBC provider, and a simple provider that can be used) that sometimes yield different or better error messages so try those.
