The documents for QS are limited, but we want to know whether we can develop any stage via API to enhance QS in some aspects.
Does QS provide such API for users?
Thanks!
Tiger
can we develop any stage by ourselves?

No.
The only customization possible in QualityStage is the ability to create your own rule sets (and associated activities such as overrides, etc.).
What are you seeking to achieve? It may be that QualityStage is not the appropriate tool.
There is an API for creating DataStage stages - indeed, all stages are written to this API.

hi ray,
the key is creation of rule sets, we want to enhance it or add some addtional value for it, bec it is really an awkward tool to standardize in QS. pity that there is no API open for us.

That's why it is being completely rewritten in the Hawk release to be a GUI tool on the DataStage Designer with patterns done in the client instead of notepad.

Keep in mind the provenance of the product; it was originally a mainframe-based application (that's why there were still eight character limits all over the place in version 6.0).
You still can not create new stage types, and will not be able to do so under Hawk.
There is a specific manual for the language used in creating rule sets, the Pattern-Action Reference Guide while the method of working with rule sets is encapsulated in Appendices C and D of the QualityStage Designer User Guide manual.
