Some of you may have seen Ted Friedman speak at AscentialWorld 2004. He has released his analysis of the IBM purchase of Ascential:

Ascential customers: Seek assurances that IBM remains committed to Ascential's defined product road map and timing of forthcoming major releases. Mercator/DataStage TX customers should anticipate some pressure over time to migrate to WebSphere Business Integrator, and should analyze gaps and overlaps in light of IBM's product plans to determine if and when migration would be appropriate.
