While trolling through the internet I happened uponthis article on a new way to handle Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD) with SQL Server Integration Services.

It's not related to "our" product suite, but someone here might be interested. At least in finding another SQL Server blog site!

Some other SCDs follow:
  • Specific Carbohydrate Diet

    Semi Conductor Devices

    Senior College Dun Laoghaire

    Scientific Computing Division

    Sydney College of Divinity

    Slot Car Distributors

    Sequential Compression Device (prevents DVT)

    Sickle Cell Disease

    System Context Diagram

    Special Care Dentistry

    Sustainable Community Development

    Saint ClouD (Minnesota)

    Sudden Cardiac Death

    Single Crystal Diffractometer

    Sulphur Chemoluminescence Detector

    Scottish Country Dancing

    Swiss Committee on Dams

    File suffix for Microsoft Schedule+

    (oh, yes) Slowly Changing Dimension

Extra credit for anyone who knows how to pronounce Dun Laoghaire (which is the port for Dublin).

I have noticed that SSIS bloggers tend to outnumber DataStage and Informatica bloggers by about 10 to 1 and they are often coming from an established network of SQL Server code cutters. They have some very detailed discussions on things like SCDs, balancing between ETL and ELT and surrogate key generation. All from an ETL perspective.
