RTI Agent on DS Server

Does any one know what RTI Agent exactly is?

I know what it does. But I want know which is the process or daemon that serves as RTI Agent, communicating with the RTI Server.

And if this RTI Agent fails, whether RTI Server is informed about this or not. What kind commmunication is there in RTI Agent and RTI Server? Sync or Async ? And how to find whether RTI Agent is up or down and what are the problems if it is down?

I suggest that you also post this question on Ascential Developer Net where you are more likely to receive a reply from an Ascential technical person. Who ought, in theory at least, to know what's going on under the covers.
