This forum was getting lonely.... Thought I'd throw out a "thought" question and inquiry.
Some enterprises are implementing/experimenting with an alternative to SOAP for Web Services. I won't go into the gory details here, but am wondering if any of you are encountering companies that are seriously exploring REST based Services.

Yes...it's an interesting discussion and an even better debate. Seems the REST sponsors want to reverse the trend of rigid and complex SOAP and its continually expanding set of WS-* standards. A valiant effort, but there's a lot of tooling and infrastructure support (things like WS-Security) that make SOAP a very big snowball to try and stop. REST is gaining in interest, but it seems to depend on things like the size and type of enterprise and pre-existing commitments to certain tooling and vendors. Looks like the two will live side by side for a very long time.
