I'd love to have the ability to lock the project for maintanace
Meaning that dsrpcd is up and running but no one other then the DataStage administrator user can't use anything.
I guess I've had to many times where an automatic job kick in after I verified nothing is currently running.

Most maintenance tasks are on the design-time tables, so you could create a BASIC program that sets a table-level lock (FileLock) on the relevant tables (particularly DS_JOBS and DS_ROUTINES). Running jobs should not affect most maintenance tasks.
