Parallel job startup time

I have read several topics and the Parallel Job Developer's Guide to understand there are several things that are done when a parallel job starts up. What I would like to know is what people have done to reduce startup time short of redesigning the job? The developer's are saying it is taking 15-20 ...

Moving DataStage from SAN to NAS

This is created an FYI for others who might experience this issue. The Unix SA was copying the DataStage software and Projects as well as other filesystems from SAN disks to NAS disks. Server jobs ran just fine but Parallel jobs failed with "main program: Fatal error: Duplicate name registratio...

Anyone running DS 8 on AIX?

While I am waiting to get my version of DS 8 for AIX I have a few questions. We have seen the installation guide but it probably raised as many questions as it answered. 1. Has anyone out there installed v8 on AIX? 2. Did you install on an existing DS server? 3. Did you upgrade or install a second (...

Our production environment is implemented as Craig suggests. All projects in the production server are "protected". The developers/support personnel are authorized as "Developers" and can view the Job designs but they cannot make any changes. A separate change control group has a...

Answered our own question. Issued the dsjob command with the logon option by specifying the servername:port#, user and password for the 7.5.1 version. This started the job in the correct version and used all correct memory segments. $DSHOME/bin/dsjob -server <server:port> -user <username> -password ...

Using dsjob on AIX server w/multiple DS versions

We have a server with two DS daemons running. Version 7.5 is itag ade and v 7.5.1 is itag ad1. We wanted to start a job in a 7.5.1. The same project/job exists in both 7.5 and 7.5.1. When we issued the dsjob command it started the 7.5 version of the job. We then changed the dsjob command to use the ...

Unfortunately I am not able to answer that question. I simply told the security person what I needed and they implemented. I do not know what process they used. They are not open to letting us peons know how they do their job. :-)

DataStage Userids and KEON on Unix

They have been installing KEON on our AIX servers over the past few months. Some of the individual ids were not able to logon after the KEON installation was complete. KEON is an LDAP based security product. It removes the need to have entries in the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files for the userids ...

Anyone running DS 7.0 on AIX 5.3? AIX 5.2?

Just wondering if anyone is successfully running DS version 7.0 on AIX with OS version 5.3? or AIX 5.2? We are currently running AIX 5.1 but they want to upgrade the OS to 5.3. We know that DS 7.0 is not "certified" for 5.3 but were wondering if anyone has this configuration? I know there ...

Determine current "Inactivity Timeout" in effect

I have searched for the answer to this but I cannot find it. Since the "Inactivity Timeout" value does not take effect until the daemon is cycled the value shown may not be what is currently in effect. How then can one determine the current setting that is in effect? Looking at value in Da...

The capability of Autosys is to create a "Wait" job. This job will wait for a file to appear. You can have the job wait for a specified amount of time. If the file does not appear, you can have the job fail. You can also have it wait for the file to reach a certain minimum size or until th...

kcbland, Thanks, yes the T30FILE setting was still set at the default of 200. I do see that we have changed that setting to 800 on another server but this one is newer and has not been changed. We will update the uvconfig. Is it also possible that a corruption of the hash files occurs because the de...
