It's a good question! If you only own DataStage then it is a PVU limit on the DataStage engine and there is no limit on the Services tier (which doesn't really get used for much else anyway). If you own multiple products or a package of products it is a limit on the larger of the Services or Engine ...

Agree with Ray - you should wait for the DataStage version that is certified to run on Hadoop. It will have a different license model, it will be much cheaper per processing node, and it will be running natively. DataStage 11.3.1 has the DataStage Hadoop file stage so if you upgrade to that version ...

Installation can be tricky as you have to start with the right version of WebSphere Application Server first and then run the BPM tier installations. Here is the quick start installation guide for version 8.5 that comes with IGC 11.3.1: ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/integration/business-process-...

Looks like the IMAM Metadata Access Manager bridges failed to install. You could try the install again with the Metadata Bridges option unchecked and install the rest of the client tools. The IMAM bridges are made by a different company and bundled by IBM, you can submit a PMR to try and get the pro...

Have you opened up the new Operations Console in 9.1 and looks at the resources graphs to see if anything is causing the bottleneck? A DataStage Server job runs as a single process and probably will not benefit much from increasing RAM and CPU/Cores on the server. I would guess one of the following:...

Information Server 11.3 added some additional support for this type of data by giving you the ability in the XML input stage to read from an API layer. So for Twitter you would have an API to read Tweets in a specific XML format. Typically you can buy from Twitter a subset of Tweet content filtered ...

That's a bad decision from IBM as the views are not really needed unless you want to use the Cognos Governance reports. So the views shouldn't be a mandatory part of the installation and they certainly shouldn't have hard coded schema names. They may have enforced the hard coded names in order to ge...

Is number five - more warning messages - due to the use of a message handler that hasn't been migrated between versions? Have a look in the 8.0.1 DataStage Administrator to see if the project has a default message handler that downgrades or hides certain warning messages.

Has anyone tested this out using the version 11 Data Click? This seems to be an ideal Data Click scenario - where in just a couple clicks you move a DB2 table into Oracle. They must have found a way to resolve this null field problem.

I think the question isn't how you get Oracle to accept an empty field into a NOT NULL field but why the target column is NOT NULL in the first place. With additional development effort you can hack the data to make it fit Oracle's rules - you can convert empty spaces to a blank space for VARCHAR fi...

Both those measurements seem excessive. I know of a site that had CDC/DataMirror up and running for eight years and the longest outage was 48 hours when we upgraded to a new version. 14 days seems way over the top. If you have an outage of more then a couple days you may as well just resync the tabl...

It depends on whether you are trying to do with the metadata. - If you want to create and maintain it then it would need to become DataStage table definitions that are created and modified through DataStage Designer. You lose some of the flexibility of having the models in Excel. - You can create an...
