My fields are Not Nullable. For the Character, I add : default = n blanck depending on the length. For the decimal, I don't know which default I need to put.

Yes,

84551001000009352004-07-24 8455100100000935 2004-07-24 GEORGE -165.42 0.00

I can open my file up to George and after I cannot found the default format for my field (decimal 12, scale 2):
-162.42

The real format is GEORGEbbbbb-165.42 with b = blanck

Format for Opening file with Decimal in PX

I have a little problem: I try to open a sequential file (fixed length). For the character, that's Ok, I put blanck for the default but I cannot found the format for the decimal (length 12; scale 2) with sign (-). I have already try 000000000.00 or 0000000000.00 but It gives me an error: "##E T...

That's right, your problem with the compilator can be the problem.
But, have you try to define the variable in your transform and put decimal in place of integer. If the result of your operation is a decimal, with integer as put cause a problem.

Key function

Hi, I need to do a lookup between a file and a Hash File on more fileds (6). If I use the standard technique, It's very long. I know (but I don't remember) that DataStage have a function where I can concatenate all these fields in a new field (for my two files) and after in the transform, The lookup...

:P I found a solution: I declare all my record like varchar and In next step, I put the good type to my field.

If anybody has a better solution, I'm going for it.

Thank you

File with variable length

Easy question for you:
I have a file with only one row but the length is variable.

How can I parameter that with the PX Sequential File Stage? At this moment I cannot open it when I try to view it under DataStage.

Thanks
