Yes, this is an old topic going back to version 8.7, however, I just ran across a case where we had a request to import an industry standard set of glossary terms and definitions. The requirement was to maintain a reference copy that was read-only, while also having a second copy that could be modif...

Thank you, Ernie. I am looking into Open IGC. I did not find it on the Knowledge Center so I am re-posting the link to your blog and the tech note links. Do you know if anything like this might be covered in the IBM Think conference in February? Open IGC is here! https://dsrealtime.wordpress.com/201...

The comments in the dssendmail_template.txt file indicate: 1) the file section is optional (not present in your example): * 1. File section (optional) * Declares what lines are to be created in a temporary file to pass to the command. * Declared by the presence of <file> and </file> lines. If these ...

I don't know about the %file% option. Maybe you will get it to work. Here is the way we do it. When we want to send an attachment from a sequence job, we don't use the notification activity stage. Instead we build a shell script, and we call the script from the sequence job by using a command execut...

You can restrict project access on a per user basis, via DataStage Administrator, project properties, permissions. So, you could allow user1 permission to prj1 and user2 to prj2. Each user will see each p...

Seems like I ran into that circular error once myself and just moved on without trying to debug it. We use begin/end loops with parameters for the amount of sleep time and number of retries. While it's not an infinite loop, you could set the number of retries to a very high number if that would help...

That sounds like an unfounded fear, alright! I bet if you asked the fearful people a few questions, you might find out the fear is more that a future developer may need to go through a learning curve in order to maintain and tweak the code for the custom stages. You already have all the data you nee...
