All you need is a server license for Information Governance Catalog - this is sold as a Processor Value Unit entitlement - you buy a certain number of PVUs to license processor cores on an IGC server. You only license decisions are: 1) How much processing power do you need and what type of processor...

You have the opportunity to upgrade to 11.3 instead of 9.1.2. IIS 11.3 is currently only supported on a DB2 repository but I would expect the Oracle and SQL Server versions to be available within a couple weeks. The effort to go to 9.1.2 or 11.3 is about the same - version 11.3 has a faster installe...

There has been a significant license change that may interest you. DataStage WorkGroup Edition version 8.x and 9.x comes only with DataStage Enterprise Edition and no Server Edition. However DataStage WorkGroup Edition 11.3 comes with DataStage Server Edition. If you want to start using both Server ...

What BI tool are you using? If you have Cognos, SSRS, Business Objects or OBIEE you are better off importing the metadata directly from the BI tool via one of the metadata bridges in the Metadata Asset Manager. This will ensure you get all the BI metadata via the Common Warehouse Model format and it...

Usually the chargeback on Designer client licenses is trivial - and that the larger cost of DataStage is the engine and the jobs running on it. Version 8.7 and 9.1.2 introduced the idea of the Operations Console and processing queues where you could start to track DataStage engine utilisation in a s...

I would jump straight to 9.1.2 with fix packs and skip 8.7. You can do a co-exist upgrade where 8.5 and 9.1 run on the same servers for a period of time so you can regression test the results. Strength here is that you have time to test and your production server does not have a long outage. Drawbac...

I think you would need to download the Aster ODBC drivers and install them on your DataStage server. The drivers are on the Teradata website. You would then connect to Aster via the ODBC Connector. In DataStage 9.1 you could also use the JDBC drivers - though I'm not sure if Information Analyzer 9.1...

Anyone tried installing DataStage onto Amazon Oracle RDS?
Was wondering if you could install Information Server 9.1 onto Amazon AWS and use an Amazon RDS Oracle instance as the XMETA repository? Amazon RDS has an Oracle instance which doesn't require an Oracle DB license - Amazon takes care of that - but I don't know if the DBA or system restrictions will ...

When it comes to straight forward scheduling - where your load is a sequence of jobs with clear dependencies - I think you can get away with either. When you add in some complex paths Sequence jobs can become easier or at least more intuitive. When several jobs need to finish before the next job sta...

Call me crazy but wont the count of CUST_SCORE always be 1? Information Analyzer runs a rule that evaluates the data one row at a time. You need to rethink what you want this rule to do. If you are looking for a thresh hold of records where CUST_SCORE = 9999 then you set the rule to be CUST_SCORE = ...

So clearly you cannot load a blank or null into an Enumerated custom attribute and it's probably working the way it is supposed to. I can think of a few ways around this: - Split your content into two Glossary XML files, one with the terms that need custom attribute values and one that doesn't. If y...
