Re: IS 8.0.1 Installation on RHEL

1. I know that IS 8.0.1 installs on " RHEL AS4.0 ". Is this version of RHEL same as " RHEL v4 Desktop "? Or do I need to use " Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS (v. 4 for 32-bit x86) " instead of " Red Hat Desktop (v. 4 for 32-bit x86) "? You should be able to inst...

IS 8.0.1 Installation on RHEL

Hi all, I'm trying to install Information Server 8.0.1 on Redhat Linux. I have couple of questions that kinda put me in abeyance. 1. I know that IS 8.0.1 installs on " RHEL AS4.0 ". Is this version of RHEL same as " RHEL v4 Desktop "? Or do I need to use " Red Hat Enterprise...

Thank you Arnd for the valuable input. If the &PH& directory is purged, then would all the job logs that existed until that moment be deleted? I have read about &PH& on the forum before, but for some reason I'm not able to search on "&PH&". It doesn't return anythin...

Thank you Arnd. Another maintenance thing would be to regularly automatically backup all the DS projects on a daily or atleast weekly basis. Although this is not a "break-point" of DSEE. It should be part of maintenance. Right?

Any other suggestions/advices are very welcome.

Thanks,
Whale.

Risks / Breakpoints for DSEE

Hi Experienced gurus, Could there be any break points or limits or thresholds for DSEE 7.5.2 over a period of time. Currently, DSEE is installed on Sun Solaris with 24 CPU's and 48G of RAM. The following are the amount of records proccessed per day: Process1: 200-250 million/day Process2: 150-200 mi...

Ray, My bad. I got it wrong. Both DB2 and DataStage are on different AIX boxes. All that has to be done is to get DB2/UDB Enterprise stage working? From my understanding the DB2 box needs to have a PXEngine installed? Am I right? Also, what kinda resources (Disk/memory/CPU) would the DB2/UDB enterpr...

I have re-opened the topic as the question is directly related to the above discussion. Not "different box", only "different platform". If both boxes are AIX, for example, all should be well. If DB2 is on AS/400 or mainframe you have to use the DB2 API stage (and therefore can't ...

Hexadecimal to decimal conversion in DSEE

Hi all,

Is there any function in DSEE similar to "Xtd()" in DS
Server Edition in order to convert a hex number into a decimal number?

DB2 partitioning and DataStage

Hi all, I have learnt that Datastage(DSEE) would not be able to utilize DB2's partitioning and parallelism if DataStage and DB2 are not on the same box. Is this true? Should DataStage and DB2 need to be on the same box? Are there any workarounds for this? Your invaluable inputs/suggestions/comments ...

lstsaur,

Many thanks for the reply. From the discussion, I understand that having DB2 connect 32-bit client is mandatory for OS/390. Is it mandatory to have it for an AS400 connection as well?

Once again, thanks a bunch for your valuable inputs,

Whale.

If we are already able to connect to AS400, Does that mean that the DB2 connect 32-bit client has been installed on the DS Server box? Or is it that DB2 connect 32-bit client is specific to OS/390 and in no way related to AS400?

Thanks for the quick reply,
Whale.
