Extract and Load from database not using DataStage Server

If you are extracting from a database (any for example Oracle) and loading to another database (again any for example DB2) and not performing any manipulation does the data still go through the DataStage server or can you bypass the DS Server and get the data to be loaded directly from one db to ano...

There is no equivalent of dsenv on Windows. You can, of course, set environment variables through the System applet in Control Panel. When you installed DataStage server, did you select the Oracle plug-in stage types? If not, try installing them now using the Package Installer on the server. (In fa...

Oracle - unable to initialize plug-in (Windows)

What am I missing? When trying to connect to the Oracle database I get the error "Unable to initialize plug-in". I have tried to search on the forums but all the similar discussions point to unix servers. We are using 2003 and installed version 10 of Oracle server and Oracle client. Config...

Is it almost finished downloading? Giving access to the group datastage users on the server is done on the tab ' permissions' when you select the properties of the map ' c:\ascential\datastage'. Greetings, Roy Sorry Roy, I just noticed this post. The download took 2 hours and I had to reinstall all...

Unable to run parallel jobs

We have just installed version 7.5.2 on Windows 2003 and the server jobs run fine but when running parallel jobs we get the error message: "This jobtype is not currently runnable on this platform". (We have installed the Visual .Net C++ compiler) Could someone point us to the right directi...

Re: Unable to delete hashed file - job aborts

The problem was that the users have been in different groups that have been set up with different permissions. We have created a functional user_id and that was used to schedule the jobs, which then solved the problem.

Re: Unable to populate a char field

I could not use insert only (Write only) as there was 1 duplicate row in the data which shouldn't have been there and it was trying to update that row. Once I changed to Insert then update it worked fine.

Filesize restrictions on filesets

I am trying to create a lookup fileset which normally works (average data is 5 million rows) but fails whe trying to create it with an 11 million row source data. It says cannot map table and says there isn't enough space but when we check the space on the server/project there is more than enough fr...

Viewing filesets

Could someone please tell me how to view data in filesets. I tried the same method as viewing datasets but that doesn't seem to work.

Thanks.

Well the error message is not exactly descriptive. The latest development is that it worked with an upsert it just doesn't work with an append to table. I wonder if this is a known problem.
I will try and reproduce it with a server job just to see what would happen.

I have gone into edit Row and there is nothing oyt of the ordinary there. The details are just like every other field in the table I can populate. The table definitions were imported from the database and I haven't changed anything. The column name is Tank_Online_Ind and I have already reimported th...

I have tried updating the field directly in the database and that works fine. There is no problem if I use SetNull(), it works fine. The problem is not with not being able to null it, it is not being able to populate it. I thought maybe there is a problem with the data itself but hardcoding a charac...

Re: Unable to populate a char field

Ashvin

the only derivation is a Trim. I am not doing any null handling.
I tried changing the nullable setting, it didn't work :(

Unable to populate a char field

My source data is a Longvarchar and I have to take a substring of that to populate a table in a DB2 database using an ODBC connection. I can populate the table successfully by using the substrings of the Longvarchar but I have a problem with one single field which unless I set to null (using SetNull...
