Uninstall of 8.1 failed
I had problems with my DS8.1 install, so it was recommended that I uninstall and then reinstall from scratch. I had DS7.5 and 8.1 FP2, with the Multi-Client Manager. I got 7.5 uninstalled, but now am unable to run the uninstall for DS8.1. When I try to uninstall, I get "The java class is not fo...

I heartily agree - your DBA will be a great resource. They may have reocmmendations about how many sessions to use. In our environment, we vary the # of sessions based on the volume of data (rec count times rec size). That also helps us detemine if a load utility is required or if it is small enough...

Re: Teradata Multiload and EE - error
Max Sessions: Set to 0 and if you don't get good performance talk to your dba Min Sessions: Set to 0 and if you don't get good performance talk to your dba Depending on your version of TD, if you use 0, then TD may automatically open 1 session per available AMP. If you have 100 AMPS on your system,...

Personally, I think you really should use the TD Connector. It is the go-forward method in DS, and also supports Teradata's Parallel Transport - the go-forward toolset in TD. We use TD Connector exclusively here and it works fine with any volume. As was noted in an earlier posting, we deal with huge...

DataStage 8.1 unable to connect to DB2
I have a DS8.1 job on development that I need to run for testing. It is retrieving data from a local DB2 database, but is unable to connect. This same job ran multiple times a few months ago, and I foudn another job that uses the same connections that ran early August. Unfortunately, I have found no...

More details. I searched online and found one reference in DSXChange (my own, with no posted responses except my own). I found another from IBM ( here ) that references the same thing in DS8.0.1 and a potential APAR that should have been included in the DS8.1FP1. It recommended changing the sync pol...

By the way, i know we ahve run into this when the Record Count parameter is set to something greater than 0 and the load operation is set to bulk. In that context, DS uses the Record Count to indicate how often the load should be checkpointed. If you leave it at teh default of 0, then checkpointing ...

DB2 load - lock with force
We have a job that is pulling from Teradata and writing directly to target tables on DB2. Sometimes it is failing with a lock timeout. DBAs have confirmed that it is not a deadlock scenario. We think it could be a user lock on the table that prevents our load. The DB2 load utility has an option call...

I'll assume you are connecting remotely, as that will work whether your data is local or remote. DB2INSTANCE is not a directory location, it is the name of the local databsae instance. It should already be set to db2inst8. The client_instance parameter shoudl point to the instance that is local to o...
