Thanks Kenneth. I guess I have some work to do then. We have around 300 odd jobs in our Production project. I have to do a manual purge now and the enable auto purge for these. But is there a way by which I can automatically store these logs in a file? I probably would need them in future for auditi...

Hi, Couldnt help asking. Ray you said that keepipng logs of DS for a long time without purge would degrade performance? We keep getting requets of data load dating back to more then 12 months, due to which we dont delete any logs. Would purging them help in performance improvement? Also is there a w...

Thanks Ray, I will try to use LAN manager and see. But when we analyzed the server it wasnt so overloaded when the others are trying to connect it from a different location. As for "other" usage, they do access some internal websites but I dont think it would really cause grief to the band...

Connection from client to Server

Hi All, We have a DS sever in Melbourne and we are trying to connect it b a dedicated 2 mbps link from India. Now the problem is when we are trying to connect to the server with a direct connection, the connection is very slow. Is there a problem with the connection setting? I believe the protocol i...

Hi Gokul,

I havent worked on the Unix version of DS, but I bet you would get loads of stuff on Hash files if you search the forum. I am not sure if there is any difference between Unix and Windows hash files.

Hash File Calculator Q

Hi , This question might be a bit ridiculous.. I have a hash file with the record length of 124 and the number of input records approximately = 8000000. I tried giving these in the HFC with Dynamic file creation and came up with a minimum Modulus (I wanted a Type 30 file and 32 bit addressing). The ...

Hi Deepak,

1.) What are the configurations of the file?
2.) Is the hash file pre-created? If yes then what are the hash parameters are you giving?
3.) What else does the error message say? I guess there would be more than what you have displayed currently?

Sorry guys for the late reply. I agree with Ray, the document doesnt say anything about the potential impact it might have. If anybody else knows anything about this please do let me know. One more thing that I noticed which would have helped us in making this decision was the log file. When we ran ...

Hi ArndW, I understood the confusion cause I read the earlier post too. I tried what you have asked me to and I find the same problem there too. In one of your earlier posts you had suggested the resize and then the HASH.HELP ooption and then to do the resize again. I tried that too but didnt help m...
