Re: Run Map Fails -- Target Not Available

Try putting a trace on the SQL insert or query to the database. Trace information should tell you what your problem is. As stated in the other reply, don't forget to recycle the Event Server.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The way I read the information was that the tool eventually created DDL for a new database based on investigation of the old. As an ex-DBA, I see triggers, some stored procedures, lobs and user defined data types as being part of a database so I assumed that the tool...

Can ProfileStage handle triggers, lobs, user defined data type

Hi Everyone, I am currently learning ProfileStage with a view to using this tool to migrate a DB2 subsystem from z/OS onto another platform. I have done the tutorial and I have checked the (few) manuals around but I cannot find answers to my questions. Hopefully some of you guys have had some experi...

system allocated temp datasets too small

Hi All, Hoping someone can help. When I execute certain maps on OS/390 (using JCL in batch processing), I see up to 500 temp datasets created for use by the Mercator maps. We invariably experience b37-04 errors due to datasets being too small (I know the message says out of volume space - but that i...

By default the Data Language is set to Native in the Type Tree. I would have expected an EBCDIC representation of space when compiled for that type of platform. You could probably get round it by explicitly setting Data Language to EBCDIC but it sounds like a bug to me. Thanks Jan for the reply. We...

space pad character on OS/390 = ASCII space

Hello All, Have come up with an unusual situation when using Mercator map on OS/390. In the type tree (generated on Windows), we specify pad character of spaces, with a minumum of 1 and a maximum of n (pad to n). When the map (generated for OS/390) and FTP'd to mainframe is used, the pad character b...

db2 adaptor 32k limit

Hi all, Trawling for information regarding the 32k limit imposed by the DB2 adaptor on z/os. Does anybody have any idea when/if Ascential is going to put in a fix for this problem? Also does anybody have a workaround suggestion for this problem. I have an idea of what I can do, but am just intereste...

REUSE WORKAREA

As a newbie to DataStage TX I am after some clarification about 'reuse workarea' card option. If I execute a map as a one off and use the 'reuse workarea' option (doesn't make sense but bear with me), and then execute the same map later in the day (separate job), is that workarea still available for...

Thanks Guys, for the great responses. Yes, guilty as charged, an Aussie living in Netherlands for the last 5.5 years.

I was hoping that I was wrong - I am well aware of the politics involved and the gnashing of teeth when I present my findings will reverberate across Benelux I am sure.

create xml on mainframe

Hello, as a new person to Datastage, I am after some info and hope someone can help. I need to create an xml file from data taken from multiple sources on a z/OS machine. The xml file must be resident on the mainframe. I have been reading docos on DataStage XE 390 and from what I can see, there is n...
